I first got contacted by Jenna's fiancé Ryleigh in June, wanting me to make a lisianthus rose so that they can add it to her bouquet of real listanious roses, in their wedding in September.

My creative process on any new project is the same, I ordered a fake version of it and deconstructed it. I do this because I get a great feel of how many layers of petals to make and what the centers look like. I also reference real photos of them online. I typically will use the fake petals to trace onto the metal so that I keep my proportions the same throughout the piece.

I realized that the center looked exactly like the center of the tulip, so the lisianthus rose is a mix between a tulip and a rose. I made the center exactly the same as the tulips I previously made, and I formed the petals exactly the same as I normally would the rose. The only difference was that there is no tight center.

When it came to making the leaves I suggested to Ryleigh that we stamp their names on one leaf and their upcoming wedding date on the other so that it can be even more memorable. He agreed with me.

The most memorable part about this piece is that my name is Jenna, my middle name is Leigh, my daughter's middle name is Ryleigh, and my son's birthday is September 18, so it was really cool to see our names and my family represented in this piece.

The link to watch how I made it, on my YouTube channel, is below the gallery.
